Evan Turns One

So, I know it's old news now... but as I'm catching up on my blogging, the most noteworthy event in the last couple of months is our precious little baby, Evan, turning ONE! Say it isn't so... but on October 8th he celebrated this incredible milestone... and what a joy this year has been! I can't begin to tell you the love that he has brought to our lives - he is the sweetest, funniest, and most precious little boy. He is so loved by all of us, especially his very proud big brother who was beyond excited that his brother was having his first birthday! Thank you, God, for putting it in our hearts to have another child!

So, what is Evan up to these days you ask? Well, he is all about the "real" food these days! And this coming from a little guy who didn't like Cheerios or all those great "first foods" in the beginning. He only wanted baby food; I thought he'd never want real food! But once he learned to like feeding himself, then it was ON! His favorite food is grilled cheese and he loves grapes! And milk, he loves it and we love it because it's $2.99 a gallon vs. $25.99 for a can of formula - fabulous!

He LOVES dancing and will get his "groove on" anytime he hears music! And he looks around to make sure that you are joining in too; he is so proud! His favorite music is actually the music that plays in the background of his brother's Wii games - funny! He loves balls and playing with his trucks. He is all about playing peek-a-boo and being chased. He has started saying some words - "Daddy", "Mama", "Bubba", "Kaboom", "Boo" (for peek-a-boo). He will clap for you and wave bye-bye. And boy, does he love to laugh, be tickled and loves to fall down.... another boy that loves "physical humor". And will laugh if you fall down too, and will laugh especially hard if he hears you laughing! We are literally RUNNING after him these days, he is incredibly fast and into everything of course. He loves closing doors and funny enough, he loves playing in piles of fresh laundry! He rolls around and throws it in the air just laughing - I let him do that BEFORE I fold it, not that he hasn't gotten to it afterwards though!

So, that's what he is up to these days, here are a few pics from our celebration! Thank you to all of our wonderful friends and family who came to celebrate! It was such a great day - Evan just had a ball being the center of attention... that is his favorite place to be!

We had his party at My Gym, and he ran around that whole place smiling and DANCING of course! It was like a kid in a candy store. Here he is stopping for a second to laugh with Dad!

And we're back to dancing.... shake your groove thang, Evan!

He loved being the center of attention and dancing around in the middle of the circle with all eyes on him... "Are you looking at me? You better be, it's my birthday!" Ha!

Strutting his stuff...

Jumping on the trampoline was a hit too!

But we were not ready to sit still for a story or puppet show... the older kids thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. Where is Evan?? See him... he's off to check out something else! See ya!

The kids got to play around the gym for the first part of the party - there were all kinds of cool things to do there for young and even older kids. We actually had Preston's second birthday party at this same place too! All the kids had a blast - they did a great job, and I didn't have to clean house - whoo hoo!

Here are some of the older boys climbing the rock wall...

Here is Evan taking his birthday motorcycle ride around his friends... it's almost time for cake! They gave Evan the royal treatment, check out all his "rides"!

On the birthday motorcycle...

In the birthday bumble bee...

They put Evan in the middle while all the kids danced around him...

And a fun "bucket ride" that all the kids got to enjoy... but Evan's little head was barely poking out the top!

Oh, yes - the moment has arrived.... CAKE TIME! Will Evan like cake? His brother wasn't really crazy about it... hmmmmm...... let's see!

Hmmm..... this looks intriguing...

What is this gooey stuff?

OH YES, WE LOVE CAKE!!! Loved it! Takes after his Mommy - definitely has a sweet tooth! He devoured this cake and enjoyed every second of it! What a little ham!

YUUUUUMMMMMYYYYY!!

"I am such a mess, and it's awesome!" (Thank you Aunt Susan and Summer for taking him to the bathroom and hosing him down! He was literally dripping of icing - it was great!)

Thank you friends for sharing this day with us!

And a very special thank you to my cousin, Tiffany, and Aunt Linda who drove all the way from Rockwall to be at this special event! You mean the world to me and I really appreciate you guys coming! Love you!

And here are all the moms... finally in a picture!

The party ended with bubble-time; we totally need one of these big bubble machines!

And then after the party... well, the little man is loved and we were excited to open his gifts! Here he is with his "loot". Can you see the Cheerios in front of him? It was like leading E.T. with the Reese's Pieces.... trying to get this picture was no easy task! We needed food for incentive!

And well, sorry friends who gave Evan gifts - this is frankly what he thought of them when we began. He had better things to do, and I shall sit on you gifts!

But WAIT A MINUTE.... what, are there toys in here???? Move out of the way, now we're interested...

And of course, the funnest part of gifts for a one-year old.... playing in the tissue paper afterwards! He and his brother rolled around in it and threw it up in the air and had a ball!

Dear sweet, Evan, couldn't imagine our lives without you! You are sunshine every single day! I thank our God in heaven for the blessings of you and your amazing brother, Preston. And I thank him for the remarkable father that he has given you two. We are so blessed and I pray that every birthday will be better than the next and that every year you will grow closer to Jesus. You are our family and you will be loved, and supported, and comforted and understood no matter what... our love for you is without end, everlasting, and unconditionally yours! Happy 1st Birthday, Evan!

Me and my little man...

Oh, and on the day of his birthday party was also the first day in the "big boy" car seat... oh, he thought he was big stuff! Just the look on his face, he has arrived now! He has always loved the car, but now it's even better!
